Down the Drain
Students collect data on how much water they use, and compare it to data from students around the world.
6
EnergyNet
Students in grades 6-12 act as Energy Auditors, measuring the energy use of their school buildings, and trying to come up with ways their school can save energy.
6
Drink It Up
Students learn about drinking water, and submit their data to the database. Classes are encouraged to submit web pages illustrating their findings.
6
Endangered Animals of the World
Students research an endangered animal, and add their report to those already online.
8

Musical Plates
Students go through 4 lessons on plate tectonics, researching trends in plate tectonics on the Internet.

8
S'Cool: Student Cloud Observations Online
A NASA-sponsored project: Students observe clouds at a time when a satellite is scheduled to pass overhead. They upload that data to the database at NASA, Langley.

Projects Beginning September 2004

8
The Noon Day Project: Measuring the Circumference of the Earth
This activity is an opportunity for students to see how mathematics and science work together in explaining a real world phenomenon.
9/7/04 - 10/8/04
6
Take a Dip
Students test their local water, compare water quality with others around the world.

9/20/04 - 12/10/04

8
Boil, Boil, Toil, & Trouble
Ever wonder what causes a pot of water to boil? If you have, this project is for you. The purpose of this project is to discover which factor in the experiment (room temperature, elevation, volume of water, or heating device) has the greatest influence on boiling point.

9/21/04 - 12/10/04

8
The Sun Times
Students join schools to figure out how proximity to the equator affects daily temperature and hours of sunlight

9/20/04 - 12/10/04

Projects Beginning October/November 2004

7
Human Genetics
Students gather data on common genetic traits to see which traits they have, and compare with other students around the world to see if the dominant trait is really dominant.

10/18/04 - 11/26/04

6
Classroom FeederWatch: Students & Scientists Working Together
Students gather useful data from schoolyard feeders and submit them via the Internet to scientists at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology.

11/04 - 4/05

Projects February-May 2005

8
The Great Egg-Scape
Students design a way to package an egg and mail it safely.

 2/14/05 - 5/13/05

8
Boil, Boil, Toil, & Trouble
Ever wonder what causes a pot of water to boil? If you have, this project is for you. The purpose of this project is to discover which factor in the experiment (room temperature, elevation, volume of water, or heating device) has the greatest influence on boiling point.

3/18/05 - 6/3/05

6
GoNorth!
An online adventure: students follow the journey of scientists and educators as they explore the Arctic National Refuge. Students analyze data as it is sent back.

1/18/05 - 2/11/05

6
Take a Dip
Students test their local water, compare water quality with others around the world
3/15/05 - 6/3/05
7
Human Genetics
Students gather data on common genetic traits to see which traits they have, and compare with other students around the world to see if the dominant trait is really dominant.
