Summer Reading is Important!

The amount of reading a student does impacts test performance.

Then number of books a child should read depends on how difficult the book is, how long the book is, and how quickly the child reads.

Students must read materials that are both easy for them to read and understand by themselves.

Summer reading prevents summer learning loss--students can lose up to three months during the summer which can add up to two years behind by sixth grade. (Cooper, et. al. 1996)
