Connecticut Mastery Test
Every year the state's standardized test, the Connecticut Mastery Test (CMT), will be administered in March to students in grades 3-8.
The literacy component of the CMT assesses reading comprehension and writing skills. Students read several passages and respond to both multiple choice and open-ended questions. They are also expected to edit and revise short passages and respond to a writing prompt.
Please be assured that every effort is being made to help our students understand and handle both the test format and the types of questions they will be expected to answer. Danbury has integrated the format and question types in our year-round instructional practices as well as provided teachers with practice formats for review purposes.
It is important that our students feel confident in their abilities. Please help us encourage them. [Check out the list of Encouraging Phrases.] Together we'll aim to instill a sense of confidence in your child, ensuring that your child does his or her best in a relaxed manner.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding these tests, please feel free to contact your child's classroom teacher or principal. I will also gladly answer any questions. Have a wonderful year.
