Preschool Classes

Our preschool classrooms offer individualized programs for children who have been identified through the PPT (Planning and Placement Team) process as having a delay in one or more developmental areas.  (See Preschool Screening & Assessment.)  The staff consists of a special education teacher and a paraprofessional aide and tutors as needed.  Additional services are provided from speech pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, adapted physical education teachers, a music therapist, social worker, and nurses.

Typical children (children who have no identified delays) provide models for our children. (These children are chosen through a lottery in the spring, from children who live in the Danbury School District.  To be considered please contact one of the preschool teachers in that building.)  There is a 50:50 ratio between identified and typical children.   The classrooms use the CT Framework, Preschool Curricular Goals and Benchmarks.  For classroom hours and schedule, ask your classroom teacher.

Preschool Classrooms are located at Hayestown School and Mill Ridge Intermediate School.
