  3. We are going to the Fiar, smell the popcorn in the air.

  4. “Merry Midway” beckons you, lots for everyone to do.

  5. Leahy, Jarvis top hat smile, that bid you welecome all the while,

  6. And when you see the band go marching by, ferris wheel up in the sky,

  7. They you know it’s great to be at the Fair in Danbury.


  8. Livestock, grandstand, village spots, Cinderella land for tots,

  9. With the Big Top painted bright, oh, what fun, from morn ‘til night.

  10. People come from near and far, to see this great spectacular,

  11. So every Fall come on and follow me to the place you ought to be,

  12. There is just so much to see at the Fair in Danbury.

  1. Zadock Benedict plugged his shoe with fur,

  2. He never realized felt would occur,

  3. Molding hats on his bedpost at night,

  4. Hats from Danbury really took flight!


  5. Location had made Danbury good

  6. For holding war supplies when no one else could.

  7. British troops did not like this at all,

  8. They burned down Danbury houses and all!

  9. No flooding water for burning flame,

  10. Could keep us from praising it’s name!

  18. Eighteen sixty nine was the first fair.

  19. The farmers displayed their fruits and animals there.

  20. We visited Goldtown and the Dutch Village too.

  21. We watch the parade from the grandstand’s great view.

  23. Our families come from many different places,

  24. you can look around and see all their faces.

  25. We represent the world and  all of its land,

  26. We stand here together hand in hand

  27. No flooding water or burning flame, could keep us from praising its name!

  29. In nineteen fifty five the Still River rose and washed the street away,

  30. The city’s flood had come

  31. The streets were all gone

  32. The people had to leave their homes, but they built it back!

  3. In the good old autumn time the weather is nice and fine, the people all,Are on their holiday being tired of staying at home, I down the street did roam

  4. And towards the “Danbury Fair” I make my way, and when I got “Right away ov’r”

  5. The fair was “all galore” with five cent shows, swings, booths around the grounds. The

  6. Ladies were dressed in their Merry Widow vests. and everything so jolly and gay.

  7. I quietly walked around, and at a Church stand I soon found a dinner

  8. T’was the best I ever saw. It was made of Lord know what

  9. But it touched me in the spot and made me want to kiss my mother in law.

  10. Oh, the Danbury Fair, I know you’ll be there, my sweet little, dear little Rosie.

  11. Oh, the Danbury Fair there’s none can compare, there’s nothing so gay as the Danbury Fair.
